June 7 ... Turn To Him

Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
for I shall again praise Him,
my help and my God.
Psalm 42:5

If we serve a mighty God,
why do I feel down?
If we serve a God Who reigns,
why am I discouraged?

Because my eyes are not on Him
but on my circumstances.
Because my heart is bending low,
not lifted up to His.
Because the Lover of my soul
seems very far away.
Because my selfishness and pride
have turned into self-pity.

And instead of seeing Him
and all His wondrous glory,
I am seeing my hurt heart,
which is fearful and worried.

So how can this be changed?
How can I be delivered?
O, thank God, it's by His hand
that love and hope enter my heart,
and peace enters my mind!
