The Lord is close to those who are of a broken heart,
and saves the humbly penitent.
Psalm 34:18
As we are servants
without pride or guile,
our joy in His presence will grow.
For we will be increasingly like Him
and peace and rejoicing will flow.
If we are fighting
for our own desires,
our hearts will feel guilty and sad.
For it is rebellion and even deception,
if we're not submitted to what He has said.
As He is our Teacher
and shows the next step,
a distance between us will come,
unless we obey and walk in His path,
choosing His way instead of our own.
Sometimes it's easy to step out in faith,
but often there's fear and mistrust.
Sometimes we're lazy or don't really care,
or too busy to see what we've done.
Let us determine and call on His strength;
let us go forth hand in Hand,
fully submitted to the Lord our King,
walking forth by Him
with nothing between!
