September 5 ... Follow His Example

For even the Son of man came not to have service

rendered to Him, but to serve.

Mark 10:45

As we humble ourselves,

the promise comes true:

"I will exalt and draw near to you."

As we lower ourselves in our own estimation,

He will lift us to heavenly places.

As we become truly clay in His hands,

yielded as servants to Him,

our fellowship with Him

will surely increase,

and our character will grow more like His.

For He lowered Himself

by leaving the heavens,

was humbled by living and dying on earth.

He was submitted to God and to all,

King and yet servant,

He was and now is.

And so we are daughters and sons of the King,

and yet we are called to be servants,

yielded and meek that His love

might shine through,

as we fellowship with Him

in humility.
