We must continue to be cleansed
and to be purified.
So what comes forth from within
will be soundness and pure light.
It's pride that thinks we're good enough
to get by on our own;
Thinking that down deep in us
there's goodness without Him.
Because there's darkness in our souls;
Jesus wants to deal with it.
Then, with inward parts made whole,
we will shine forth clear brightness.
Many times we want to stop
this whole cleansing process.
We get weary always seeing
fleshly, fruitless ways within us.
We would rather go back
to the days we didn't see
All those darkened areas
needing Him so desperately.
But the sin, and its responses,
must come to the surface.
So they can be skimmed away;
then His light will shine through us.
So be encouraged, not downhearted;
glorious work will be accomplished.
Now you see the ugliness,
but soon this layer will be done.
And His glorious light will shine,
happiness and peace you'll find
as He works His process.
