Morning Meditations Intro

Many years ago I wrote a devotional book and I'm feeling like now is the time to share it, so I'm starting a new blog. The format of the book is 365 daily readings, many written on my morning walks, after our kids went to school and others were inspired as I meditated on the scriptures I was studying that day; thus the title, "Morning Meditations".

I think my theology may have changed a bit through the years, but I'm leaving it all as originally written. Morning Meditations is a compilation of devotions of prayer, prose and praise. The daily meditations in this book are not meant to be complete studies in themselves, but springboards for deeper exploration into God's Word. For this reason, scripture references are listed with each meditation to clarify and magnify the concept presented. These scriptures may be used as a study guide or as further inspirational readings on the subject of the day.

It is my hope and prayer that these writings will inspire you to a more intimate daily communion with Jesus, the Lover of our souls. As He speaks His love through His Word, the results can only be times of refreshing and revelation.

For some, these may be new horizons; for others, a renewing of vital fellowship. For many, Morning Meditations may simply be a tool in their continual daily walk with their glorious Lord.

Four themes are interwoven throughout the 365 days of study, with each theme emphasized for a three month period. January to March relates "The Call to Commune with God"; a season of inspiration, joy, and fellowship with Jesus. April to June emphasize "The Call to Crucify the Old Nature"; a refining of our walk with God and a purifying of our hearts by the Holy Spirit. July to September speak of "The Call to New Creation"; a season of resurrection and renewal in Christ Jesus. And finally, October, November, and December concentrate on "The Call to Intercession"; leaving introspection in order to look outside of ourselves to a world in need of God.

As these four themes are repeated again and again in the Christian's life, they cannot help but produce an ever deepening knowledge of God and an ever increasing intimacy with our beloved Lord.

It is my prayer that the love and excitement I feel toward the scriptures will be conveyed in a way that will inspire you to greater discovery and deeper experiences in the written and living Word of God.
