I know what it means to seek the gifts
instead of seeking the Giver.
Wondering what I'll gain from it,
not just coming to meet Him.
Looking for signs and confirmations
without fully trusting His guidance.
Leaning on others or my understanding,
when He's the One Who's omniscient.
This is the flesh I crucify.
These are the thoughts I want to die.
This is the morning when up I rise.
That is why.
